Cute "Cardi's"

The red 'card'igan above is my version of one I came across online
It is the creation of Ruth Hamilton.  Here's one of her cards.

You can go to her website here to see more of her cards and she also has a tutorial.  You'll have to scroll down a ways to find it.

Here are more of my versions. They measure 5" x 5"

On the collar and pockets of the orange one I used my crimper to give it a more ruffled look.

The lavender one has a punched edged added to the collar
I used my Scorpal to score lines on the collar and front piece of this one.

These are fun to make and soooo easy.
Thanks for stopping by today.

"My Dies" Storage Album

Before I saw this idea for die storage on Youtube, I stored my dies in c.d. cases in a drawer, but some of them didn't fit in the cases, so they ended up in plastic bags.  It wasn't really the best system so I decided to make this storage album. I can already tell that this is going to work much better.
The cover measures 11 inches x 7.5 and the pages inside are slightly smaller. The papers I used are from the "Lace & Linen Stack" by DCWV. (below)
I raided my pantry for cereal boxes and that is what all my pages are made with.  The cover is just a piece of cardboard.  I edged all the pages with a black marker and then added the designer paper to each side.  This paper is quite thick, so the pages are pretty sturdy.

 First Page
I added a pocket to some of the left side pages, In this one I have the instructions for cutting and embossing with dies and also a picture of how it looks when done. I cut these from the packaging the dies came in.
I used sticky back magnet and cut it to the sizes needed & rounded the corners, just makes it look a little neater.

Second Page

Third Page
Pocket on left for future use.

Fourth Page

Fifth Page

Sixth Page
This is a larger die, I still have room to add a couple of smaller ones on this page. I don't know the name of this one, didn't keep the info. from the package. (Thanks Lynn for the name)  There are 3 more pages in the album that I didn't show pics of, they are for future purchases.

The Back
I used 2 pieces of cereal box mod podged together for this.

Thanks for dropping by my blog today.
Be back soon!

A Wee Follow Up

As a follow up to my recent post "A Scottish Farewell" our son and his family are now back from their trip to Scotland.
They thoroughly enjoyed themselves and took hundreds of pictures of the beautiful scenery, castles etc.  Andrew has a photography blog here.  He'll be posting pictures as well as the story behind the picture.
Go have a look, you won't be disappointed.

I have just finished making an album to store my Nestabilities dies, so I'll be back soon to post some pictures.

Thanks for stopping by,

My Scrapaganza Weekend

My hubby and I just took a little trip to Spokane, Washington to do some shopping.  Naturally, Hobby Lobby, JoAnn's and Michaels were all high on my list of stores to check out.  I printed off some coupons for Hobby Lobby before I left and a friend of mine gave me a coupon for JoAnn's.
Would you like to see what I got?

Okay, here goes.........

As if I didn't already have enough paper...but how can one resist when they are on sale for half price?  The big ones were only $9.99 and the smaller ones, $4.49.  What a deal!

The stamps were all half price.  The smaller ones were just 50cents each.
The ATG refill tapes were not on sale, but I have to pay $6. more for each one here at home.  The punch is a Recollections one..... haven't used one of these before but it was less than $5.

Here I have a couple of embossing folders, not on sale, but much better priced than I normally have to pay.  The Cricut cartridge is "Elegant Edges", also on sale. I picked up some buttons, gems, magnet sheets (to make an album to hold my nesties) I saw this on YouTube & thought it was a great idea. I'll get started on that soon.
I have never been to Hobby Lobby before....what a great store!  Especially for home decor items. There's soooo much 'stuff' that it gets overwhelming.  Maybe it's just as well that there isn't one here in western Canada, I would probably end up bankrupt! lol

That's all for today,  stay tuned, I'll be back soon with something new.

Sock Monkey Baby Shower

Well, the baby shower for my grandson has come and gone and I said I would show you some pictures.
So, here goes.......
Warning - lots of pictures coming up

Washing line for the backdrop.
I searched the web to find images that I could use, I found some free ones and I bought some.

The favour boxes which held a sock monkey magnet (made by my daughter)

I used the  Cricut cartridge "Tags, Bags & Boxes" to cut out the popcorn boxes.  Drew the stripes and added monkey circles.  The larger monkey on the right is a digi image that I printed, cut and coloured with my Copics.

Food table

My daughter made the diaper bike. These are a wonderful gift for a baby shower, has diapers (lots) socks, hat, blanket, sippy cup and stuffie, in this case, a sock monkey...of course!  Makes a wonderful centrepiece too.

My friend made the cupcakes, they are lemon pomegranate flavour, soooo delicious!  I printed off the wrappers and toppers and they looked wonderful.

Not the best picture, but it shows a couple of the pictures of Knox that I printed off in b & w and framed.  We used cardboard boxes covered in white paper and tied with a red bow cut from a plastic dollar store tablecloth to give some height to the table.

And finally - my lovely little Knox in his sock monkey hat.  It's a bit big now, but will keep him snug and warm this winter.

That's it for now, hope you enjoyed your visit today.
Have a lovely day everybody!

"A Scottish Farewell"

Our son and his family are off today to Scotland.
I made them a 'farewell' card (kind of like a bon voyage)

I did a wee bit of paper piecing & popped up the hat, bagpipes, boots and kilt.
Notice the pin?  They use these for their kilts, so they do....so had to do something with it.....check out the last pic further down.

Here's the inside.
I looked online and found this little poem "A Scottish Farewell".  I thought it was kind of cute, so added it as a pocket, then tucked the translation in the pocket.....so I did
Can you figure out what it means, some of it is easy, but not all.

Here's the translation.....

A Scottish Farewell
May the best you've ever seen
be the worst you'll ever see.

May the mouse never leave your grain store
with a tear drop in its eye.
May you always stay whole and hearty
until you're old enough to die.
May you still be as happy
as I always wish you to be.

The envelope..... and the pin! (fer yer kilt)

That's all for now, I'll be posting pictures of the baby shower soon.
Thanks for coming by for a wee visit, hope ye have a bonnie day.
(sorry, couldn't resist)
