Video Tutorial for Making Flowers

Easy peasy!

Thanks to Lorraine at "Card Creations by Lorraine" for this great, easy to follow video.

Have a great day everyone!

Funky Fold Card

Dec. 27/10

Here is a "funky fold" zigzag card.
I cut the card out of periwinkle card stock, then layered a darker shade of periwinkle on top of that. I then added the white & silver designer paper. I made the flowers by punching out several scalloped circles from the same periwinkle c/s.  I inked the edges of the circles before putting them together, then added a few drops of glitter glue to the petals.  The leaves are cut out of green c/s, inked and folded down the centre. I used tiny glue dots to add the pearls.
The sentiment is one that I found online, not sure where, you could check out Gingers house (link on right) where I have found most of my sentiments.
Here's a video tutorial at Sweeet Designs by Cheryl.
It acts up sometimes & doesn't always start to play right away, but just click on it a few times and it will eventually play for you.
I found a video tutorial on youtube for making the flowers, so I'll
add it to my next post.

Mini Album Info.....

Dec.26, 2010

Hi Everyone,
As you can see I have posted a slideshow below of my finished mini album. This is the first one I have ever made, it isn't perfect, I made a few mistakes, but it was fun to do and it has been a learning experience for me....I'm sure I'll do another one in the near future.
The pages, which measure approx. 4.5" x 5.5" were made from file folders that I already had.  The cover is  a little larger and made from a fairly stiff cardboard.
Some of the pictures I used are very old & faded (great for a vintage album though)  I scanned them and tweaked them on the computer to make them as clear as possible, then I saved them in an antique colour, similar to sepia.  I also used some vintage digital images that I found online. I used Tim Holtz Distress Ink, in "Vintage Photo" to ink the edges of pages, papers and pictures.  I managed to find a few pieces of jewellery that I never wear, and a few other bits & pieces. I purchased some charms - on sale at Michaels, as well as some vintage papers that were a great price.

Thanks for visiting and come back soon!

Big, beautiful moon!

Dec. 22, 2010.

I wanted to share this with you.
My hubby took this picture on his way to work early in the morning on Dec. 20th, 2010.  The sun was coming up casting a warm glow on the trees and the roof of the house.

Around 3:30 this afternoon, 2 buck deer, 2 females and 2 young ones (twins) came through our yard.  They jumped the fence  into the farmers field and then the bucks started a pushing match....quite something to see.

Thanks for visiting!

A peek at what I'm working on...

Dec. 22, 2010

I haven't posted anything for a couple of weeks because I've been busy working on my first vintage mini album, and you know how time flies when you're having fun! This is the front cover of it.

My scrapping buddies and I had another scrapping day a little over a week ago, and Kim brought the mini album she was working on, of course, that got us all excited about making one too. I haven't done anything vintage before, so I had to go searching for anything I had that looked "old".  I did find a few things, and I also purchased some that were on sale at Michaels.

My Tim Holtz distress inks have been working overtime...you should see my stained fingers!  I finally decided to wear one of those thin plastic gloves that come with hair colouring when I'm inking, and it definitely helps.

My album isn't finished yet, but I thought I should post something before you all give up on me and stop visiting. ;o(
I'll post the pictures of each page when it's done.

Thanks for visiting, have a great day!

A Heartwarming Video

This video is from the "Today Show".  If you have an opportunity to see their show "Young at Heart" don't miss it.

Home Sweet Home Step Card

Saturday, Dec.4, 2010

Step cards are my favourite type of cards to make because you can do so many different things with them.
All the elements, except the doily and the white rug (which is just a scallop circle I punched out)  are free digital images from "Coloring Planet".  I coloured them with my Copic markers and used dimensionals to pop some of them up.

Following are some pictures before I coloured and put it all together.  First, I lay everything out and decide on the arrangement as well as the colours I want to use.

Thanks for coming by for a visit,

Cupcake Insert Card

Friday, December 3, 2010

I have always liked the plant pot cards, so I wanted to see if that same idea would work with a cupcake.  I'm sure someone, somewhere has already done this, but I haven't seen one yet.

Here's the 2 pieces...

This next one shows the sparkles more....
the little marks you can see on the white part are also sparkles that   still need to be brushed off.

Thanks so much for looking, bye for now....

Tweet Day

November 30, 2010

When I saw this cute little bird, I just had to make a card with him.
I found him on "Rosebud Craft Store" and he's a freebie!
The frame was also a freebie, (sorry, can't remember where)  The sentiment was from "Ginger's House" (link on the right).
I layered the various colours of card stock, embossed the white one with my Cuttlebug,  added the frame, coloured the bird with Copic markers and then popped him up with dimensionals.
The sentiment was cut out with an oval punch and then the edges inked with Tim Holtz distress ink.

Hope you're having a lovely day, thanks for stopping by,

Teddy Bear Card

Monday, November 22, 2010

The cute bear is a digital stamp which I found at www.card-making-downloads.com  It was a freebie at the time, but may not be free now.  I used my Copics to colour him then gave him a little bow. He is popped up with dimensionals.  The background is embossed using my Cuttlebug.  I left it blank so that when I want to give it to someone I can add appropriate sentiments.

Update: Jan.10, 2011
I have entered this card in the "Do You Stack Up?" challenge.

Thanks for stopping by....hope you have a wonderful day!

Winter Robin Card

Winter is here!
Well at least it is here in Alberta, Canada.
Just under a week ago we got about 6 inches of snow and the temperature plummeted to well below freezing.  The wind chill makes it even colder. Oh well, no worries, there's parts of the world where they are dealing with much worse.

Anyhow, I made another card today.  Isn't this a cute little bird?
He is a digital stamp that I purchased from Pink Gem Designs.  I used Copic markers to colour him, then added white flock with sparkles to his hat, scarf and the snow. I used my Cuttlebug to emboss the white background and layered it onto pink and silver card stock.  The little bow is made with a Martha Stewart punch.

Thanks for looking & come back soon.

Snowflakes Step Card

I just purchased Emma hugging snowman digital image from "Fred she Said" (link on right) I love these Emma images and wanted to use it right away, so I decided to do another 'scene' card.  I colored all the images with Copic markers, layered the 'snow' and added white flock to the trees, the fur on Emma's coat & hat and the snowball that the puppy is playing with.  I popped up Emma and the puppy with dimensionals.

Here's a close up of Emma...

Apron Card with Recipe

A friend recently asked me for a recipe.  I thought it would be nice to make a card for her with a pocket inside to hold the recipe card....  this is what I came up with.  I cut the apron template out of red & white designer card stock, added the ribbons & buttons and the pocket to the front, then layered onto red card stock. (now I look at it, I should have embossed the card stock...too late now!)  I then layered it onto the designer paper again, then onto the card.  I added a pocket and put a tag inside.  The tag says "Bon Appetit"

Here is the inside with the recipe card for apple pie...

I love this apple pie, which is actually a cross between a pie and a crumble.  Here is the recipe if you would like to give it a try.

Caramel Crunch Apple Pie

Preheat oven to 400 degs.

Line a pie dish with pastry and crimp the edges
Peel & slice up 6 - 8 Granny Smith apples.
Place in a bowl with 1/2 cup sugar, 3 Tbs. flour, 1 tsp. cinnamon and 1/8 tsp.salt.  Put into crust.
In a bowl mix together - 1 cup brown sugar, 1/2 cup flour, 1/2 cup margarine and 1/2 cup oatmeal.  Add to top of pie and spread out evenly.  Bake at 400 for 50 mins.
When done, remove from oven and drizzle 1/4 cup caramel sauce over the top and 1/2 cup chopped pecans.
Serve warm with ice cream or vanilla frozen yogurt.

Bon Appetit!

Thanks for visiting my blog and have a wonderful day!

Update: (Mon. Nov 8/10)
This morning I looked online for this recipe and found out that it won Good Morning America's Apple Pie Contest in 2001.
It doesn't surprise me that it won, it is soooo good!

Get Well Card

October 26/10
For this card I used my punch around set from Martha Stewart.  I layered metallic gold & copper cardstock, along with ivory.  The sentiment is computer generated, punched out with a scalloped oval punch and then inked around the edge with Tim Holtz distress ink in"vintage photo" color.  I then popped it up with a dimensional. The rosebud is a digital stamp, printed then coloured with Copics, For the final touch I added a bow in a complimentary color.

Thanks for looking and come back soon.

Beach Scene Step Card

Another step card.
How can you tell that I'm really into doing scene cards lately? ;-)  As usual I used mostly digi stamps for this card, coloured with Copic markers.  The flip flops are dollar store embellishments I had in my stash.
I have a little bottle of sand that my Granddaughter brought back from Puerto Vallarta for me a few years ago.  I decided to add some  to the "sand" background for a little texture......not sure if I got it right, but didn't think it looked too bad.

Thanks for taking the time to visit my blog,

Cabin in the Woods Step Card

Today (Oct.17)  I made this step card.  I love how you can do scenes with these cards.  All the elements are digital stamps which I coloured with Copic markers.  You can find the free cottage image here at Beccy's Place.  Thanks Beccy!
The green background is card stock which I embossed with my cuttlebug, one of my favourite tools.
